Why is my Reticulation Water Pressure So Lousy?

This morning I went to help someone discover why their water pressure had suddenly decreased on the front two stations. As you would expect I was looking for broken risers or water bubbling up and suggesting broken pipe under ground. After 10 minutes of running the system there was nothing to see. I checked the solenoids and they looked fine. It wasn’t as if water was being obstructed. The customer had told me that the rear stations were working fine so I went and had a look. They did appear ok, but when I pushed down on the shaft of […]

My Controller Blows a Fuse

If your controller is showing a ‘fuse’ message or actually blowing a fuse then the most likely cause is the coil on the solenoid or some wires crossed somewhere in the system. The coil is the electrical component of the solenoid and when it malfunctions it causes the fuse to blow and protect the control box. If your control box doesn’t have a fuse or isn’t able to show a ‘fuse message’ then it may actually damage the box and end up causing you more $$ for a new box. The fix for this is relatively simple – assuming […]

Two Rocks Irrigation and Reticulation Servicing & Repair

We’ve been living in Yanchep for nearly 5 years now and as a result do a lot of work in Two Rocks. We know the area well, the rocky ground and the challenges that go with it. We know it can be hard to find a tradie willing to drive the extra distance to Two Rocks and that getting someone to Seatrees or Breakwater is even harder. We service Two Rocks and the bigger lots in the Seatrees/Breakwater estates so give us a call and we will be happy to help. Or if you are building in the one of […]

The Value of an Expert

In my younger years I did a lot of running, so much so that by my early 30’s I had bad tendonitis in my ililo-tibial band and over the last 20 years it has gradually worsened to the point where I currently can’t run any distance at all. Even walking hurts and that aint good… Today I went to get a new pair of running shoes to ‘try again’, but rather than just going to Jim Kidd’s and picking up a semi decent pair of generic running shoes I drove into Hay St to The Running Centre, on the advice of […]

My Sprinklers have Lost Pressure

A common service call is for sprinklers that have lost pressure. Sometimes the answer is easily detectable and other times its less clear. Some checks to do: Is it just one station or all of them? If its all of them then your master valve is most likely the problem. If its just one station can you see any puddles of water that indicate a leak? Another test is to locate the sprinklers and see if any of them are broken at the base or if any nozzles have dislodged. The third option is that the sprinklers are old, sticky and […]

How To Fix Broken PVC Pipe

Ok so you’ve stuck a spade through a PVC pipe or maybe just pierced it. How do you repair it without digging it all up so you have enough flex to insert a coupling? There are two options. The first is the best option for a significant break and that is to use a slipfix/ telescopic fitting. Simply cut the pipe at either end, attach a PVC coupling to one side and then glue the narrow end of the slipfix into the coupling. Allow a couple of minutes for it to dry and then slide it over the other end […]
