Transforming a Verge

When you live opposite a school your front verge gets parked on more than most, but now that the council have stopped verge parking in the street it was time to revamp that verge that was looking pretty dodgy. It was pretty ugly… Then the bobcat came in Old lawn and weeds removed and 40mm of good quality soil spread. The next day I came in and repaired and reconfigured the reticulation using MP rotators to get the coverage needed. And then the Sir Walter Buffalo went down. The different looking lawn sections are just the ‘grain’ of the lawn […]

Laying Turf Well… Laying Turf Badly…

Yep – you can really stuff it up if you don’t know what you are doing! As with all jobs of this kind preparation is everything – after that its ‘green side up’… or so you’d think… But we have seen jobs where the landscaper obviously under-ordered on turf and just left a 100mm strip down the side of the yard. Or this one where rather than butting the edges up hard he just filled the gaps with soil.   The turf will grow across, but its not what you want to see. A good lawn should be fit for […]

Irrigation Installation and Empire Zoyzia Turf in Mindarie

Here’s one I did this week. A new build in Mindarie where the front yard needed sorting out. This is where we started. Empire Zoyzia is a beautiful mid sized leaf that grows slower than either buffalo or wintergreen. The bobcat came in, moved out the dirt and brought in some good soil. On Tuesday I installed the retic using MP Rotators and then on Thursday we laid the lawn. Laying the turf A fresh start – all laid, compacted and looking good If you’re after a quote then give me a call on 0400044236.

My Controller Looks Like Its Working But Nothing is Coming on

So you set your controller running and everything looks right on the digital panel, but there is no water?… What’s going on?… Well if you are running your retic off the mains then its most likely that there is a problem with your master solenoid. If it isn’t working then you won’t get any water to the different stations. You can test if this is the issue by locating it, turning it on manually (usually you need to turn the coil a quarter turn anti-clockwise) and then running the system as usual. If everything works with the master valve open […]

Irritrol Kiwkdial Fuse Message?

Every summer one of the most common requests we get is to fix the ‘fuse message’ on Irritrol Kiwkdial controllers. The message flashes and shows a battery symbol (even though the device has no battery) and it will not operate the retic. The short answer to what is happening is one of two things: a) The controller is on the way out. If it does this intermittently and if the display is shaking then count on it being the controller. b) There is a problem with a solenoid and it is sending a message back to the controller telling it […]
